Utah Jazz guard Keyonte George exited late in the fourth quarter of Friday’s defeat to the Brooklyn Nets with a sprained left ankle, according to Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune.

Larsen reported that post-game X-rays were negative, yet the 22-year-old left the locker room with a pronounced limp as team medical staff provided treatment. The reporter added that the injury could sideline George for an undetermined period.

The third-year guard is enjoying a breakout campaign, averaging 24.1 points, 6.6 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.1 steals while shooting 45.4% from the field, 37.8% from three-point range and 89.9% at the foul line over 46 appearances (34.4 minutes per game). Against Brooklyn, he tallied 26 points on 9-of-11 shooting, seven assists and three rebounds in 32 minutes before departing.

If George misses games, head coach Will Hardy could turn to second-year guard Isaiah Collier and rookie Walter Clayton Jr. for additional back-court minutes. Utah fell to 15-34 with Friday’s loss.

The Jazz are already without two-way guard Elijah Harkless, who is dealing with a hamstring injury. Harkless told Larsen he expects to return in “a couple of weeks.” He was honored as the NBA G League’s Player of the Month for December.
