Anthony Davis is not pressuring the Dallas Mavericks for a trade, even though his agent, Rich Paul, has signaled that a move might serve the All-Star forward’s long-term interests.
During Sunday’s Lakers–Mavericks broadcast, ESPN reporter Tim MacMahon relayed that Paul has “made it known” a trade could benefit Davis. MacMahon added, however, that the 30-year-old is content with his current situation and has not asked the Mavericks’ front office to explore deals.
Davis is rehabilitating ligament damage in his left (non-shooting) hand. He has returned to Dallas, where he has started light on-court activity while wearing a protective glove, opting for rehab instead of surgery. The team’s tentative timetable projects a six-week recovery, which would keep him out until after the All-Star break.
Injuries have already limited Davis to fewer than half of Dallas’s games this season, following earlier absences caused by a calf strain and a groin issue. When available, he has supplied the Mavericks with scoring, rebounding, and interior defense, reinforcing his value to a roster anchored by Kyrie Irving’s leadership.
Throughout his downtime, Davis has remained around the team, staying involved in meetings and practices as Dallas aims for stability in the Western Conference playoff race.
