Joel Embiid delivered 46 minutes of action in the Philadelphia 76ers’ 128-122 overtime win against the Houston Rockets on Thursday, marking his longest regular-season appearance in more than three years, according to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps.

The reigning MVP made the extended stint count, finishing with 32 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists while the 76ers outscored Houston by 21 during his time on the court. Head coach Nick Nurse called the outing an important step forward after Embiid spent recent seasons managing knee issues.

Those problems limited the center early this year and during his shortened 2024-25 campaign, but recent production suggests a turn. Over his last 15 games, Embiid is averaging 28.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists, numbers that resemble his peak form.

Forward Paul George, who has dealt with significant injuries himself, said seeing Embiid regain rhythm and confidence in both games and practice is “refreshing” and a sign he is returning to the dominant player the league expects.

Philadelphia remains cautious with expectations, yet a healthy Embiid dramatically raises the team’s ceiling heading into the second half of the season.
