CHICAGO — Second-year forward Matas Buzelis continues to trend upward for the Chicago Bulls, posting 21.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 block over three games this month. The 20-year-old poured in 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting during Monday’s loss to Boston.

Head coach Billy Donovan praised the forward’s quicker decision-making. “He was decisive when he had it in space,” Donovan said. “Whether it was shooting the ball or driving the ball, he was decisive, and I feel like that’s how he has to play.”

Buzelis called the progress part of his growth curve. “It’s only Year 2 for me,” he noted. “I just go out and hoop, try to be the best player I can be … it feels like it’s just a matter of time, learning and learning.”

The Bulls list Buzelis as questionable for Wednesday’s game at Detroit because of an illness, according to K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network.

Coby White also questionable

Guard Coby White is dealing with right calf injury management and carries the same questionable tag for Wednesday. The impending unrestricted free agent returned Monday after sitting out three contests, finishing with five points, three assists and four turnovers under a minutes restriction.

“It’s pretty tough being in and out of the lineup, knowing you can only play a certain amount of minutes,” White said.

Mathurin’s thumb remains an issue

Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle revealed that Bennedict Mathurin has been coping with right thumb pain “for weeks.” Carlisle, who previously said the second-year wing would be out “awhile,” offered no timetable for a return. “When you keep getting hit, it’s on your shooting hand, it becomes more than a nuisance,” he explained.

Feigin departing Bucks front office

After 12 seasons running the Milwaukee Bucks’ business operations, president Peter Feigin will step down. Josh Glessing, currently chief of strategy and development for Haslam Sports Group, will take over, with both executives collaborating through a multi-month transition.
