The Indiana Pacers have waived center Tony Bradley, the team confirmed Tuesday after NBA reporter Jake Fischer initially broke the news.
Bradley, 27, appeared in 29 games this season, averaging 3.9 points and 2.6 rebounds across just over 10 minutes per contest. His minimum contract for 2024-25 was non-guaranteed, and the club faced a Wednesday deadline to guarantee the deal for the 2025-26 season.
By cutting ties, Indiana incurs $1,355,225 in dead money, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, rather than the center’s full $2.94 million salary.
If Bradley clears waivers, he will become an unrestricted free agent later this week. Reporter Tony East noted the Pacers could consider bringing him back on a 10-day contract if roster needs arise.
The move also increases the likelihood that forward/center Micah Potter will have his deal guaranteed. Potter, signed on December 26, has started the past two games and is averaging 8.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists in six appearances while shooting efficiently from the field and beyond the arc.
Bradley has been playing with a splint on his right thumb after fracturing the tip, an injury head coach Rick Carlisle recently described as only “partially functional.” He turns 28 later this week.
