The NBA on Monday recognized Portland Trail Blazers forward Deni Avdija and Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey as the Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively.
Avdija guided Portland to a 3-1 record behind averages of 26.8 points, 9.8 and 8.3 rebounds over the seven-day period. The award is the first of the fourth-year forward’s career and marks the Trail Blazers’ first weekly honor since Damian Lillard received the distinction on Feb. 6, 2023.
Maxey powered Philadelphia to a perfect 3-0 week by posting 34.7 points and 8.7 assists while shooting 61.2 percent from the field.
Other Western Conference nominees were Devin Booker (Suns), Stephen Curry (Warriors), Kevin Durant (Rockets), Anthony Edwards (Timberwolves), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Thunder) and Kawhi Leonard (Clippers). In the East, Giannis Antetokounmpo (Bucks), Paolo Banchero and Anthony Black (Magic), Jaylen Brown (Celtics) and Cade Cunningham (Pistons) were also considered.
