Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic was sidelined at halftime after sustaining a left leg contusion during Saturday’s 103–88 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Doncic, who entered the night leading the NBA with a career-best 35.2 points per game along with 9.1 assists and 8.8 rebounds, struggled to find his touch. He scored 12 points on 4-of-13 shooting, including 1-for-6 from beyond the arc, and added five rebounds, two assists and four turnovers before leaving the game.
The Lakers trailed 54-39 at the break and never mounted a serious comeback. Rookie Dalton Knecht opened the second half in Doncic’s spot.
Los Angeles was already short-handed, playing without Austin Reaves (calf), Deandre Ayton (elbow) and Rui Hachimura (groin). Any extended absence for Doncic would further test the team’s depth.
The Clippers improved to 103-88 by the final buzzer, handing the Lakers a second straight defeat.
