CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Hornets finally have LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, Kon Knueppel and Miles Bridges healthy at the same time, but Miller’s sporadic availability has prompted discreet league-wide conversations, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Rival executives once considered the 2023 No. 2 overall pick untouchable; several now wonder if Charlotte’s position could shift as the season progresses.

Kings Remain Focused on Jonathan Kuminga

Scotto reports that the Sacramento Kings continue to monitor Golden State forward Jonathan Kuminga. Phoenix’s interest has diminished, Brooklyn was never a serious player, and it is unclear if New Orleans is still checking on the situation. Kuminga becomes trade-eligible on Jan. 15, keeping his name circulating among potential targets.

Warriors, Trail Blazers High on Trey Murphy III

Golden State and Portland are described as “high” on Pelicans wing Trey Murphy III. League executives, however, believe the Warriors would first pursue a bona fide superstar before surrendering significant assets for Murphy. Skepticism also persists over New Orleans’ willingness to move the 23-year-old; some front offices estimate the Pelicans would demand a return comparable to the package Memphis secured for Desmond Bane.

Pacers, Kings Discuss Jarace Walker

Jarace Walker surfaced in exploratory trade conversations between Indiana and Sacramento, Scotto adds. It is unclear which club introduced Walker’s name. The Pacers remain active in center-related talks and continue to scan the market as the trade deadline approaches.

The NBA trade deadline arrives Feb. 8, giving front offices several weeks to determine whether preliminary discussions develop into formal offers.
