Free-agent guard Cory Joseph has reached an agreement to join AS Monaco, according to Christos Tsaltas of Greek outlet Athletiko.
The 34-year-old Canadian was selected 29th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2011 NBA Draft after one season at the University of Texas. Over 14 NBA seasons he won a championship with the Spurs in 2014 and later played for Toronto, Indiana, Sacramento, Detroit, Golden State and, most recently, Orlando.
Listed at 6’2″ and 200 pounds, Joseph has built a reputation as a steady ball-handler and defensive specialist coming off the bench. In 50 games for the Magic last season, he averaged 3.5 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 36.4% from three-point range in 12.2 minutes per game. Injuries in Orlando’s backcourt pushed him into the starting lineup for all five games of the team’s first-round playoff series against Boston.
Joseph said he enjoyed his lone season with the Magic and hoped to return, but Orlando declined its 2025/26 option, making him an unrestricted free agent. The impending move to Monaco would be his first professional stop outside North America.
Before the deal can be finalized, Monaco must address a EuroLeague sanction that includes a transfer ban and a €300,000 fine for financial and regulatory violations. The club, which finished as EuroLeague runner-up last season and competes in France’s LNB Élite, cannot register new players until the matter is resolved.
