Luka Doncic Labels Austin Reaves ‘One of the Best’ After Lakers Top Mavericks

The Los Angeles Lakers’ high-scoring backcourt put on another show in Tuesday night’s win over the Dallas Mavericks, and this time Luka Doncic surprised everyone by publicly praising running mate Austin Reaves.
Reaves poured in 38 points, while Doncic finished with 35 points and 11 assists in the victory. Speaking to reporters afterward, Doncic called his teammate “probably one of the best basketball players in this league.”
“Just the way he scores, he makes plays for others throughout the game. It’s very good,” Doncic said. “I’m just happy he’s on my team. That’s probably the last compliment I’ll ever give him.”
The light-hearted remark continued the pair’s ongoing tradition of friendly trash talk. Asked about Reaves’ dunk earlier in the game, Doncic quickly pointed out that he has logged more slams this season. “He has the same dunks. I mean, he’s got two. I’ve got two. And mine was an and-one. Actually, three,” the All-Star guard joked.
The chemistry between the two guards has been a central storyline of the Lakers’ fast start. With LeBron James recently back from injury, Reaves said playing alongside both stars has been “fun” because all three are unselfish and “play the right way.”
The victory kept Los Angeles among the early Western Conference frontrunners as the Doncic-Reaves tandem continues to push each other on and off the court.
