Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves said selfless play is behind the team’s recent surge, highlighted by a 133-125 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Nov. 25, 2025, at Crypto.com Arena.
Reaves poured in 31 points, with the bulk coming in the fourth quarter, while teammates Luka Doncic and LeBron James also delivered high-scoring performances. After the game, Reaves credited the trio’s willingness to keep the ball moving.
“We just played the right way, took open shots, stuck to the schemes and got the ball where we wanted,” Reaves said. “With LeBron and Luka drawing double-teams, someone’s open. You pass to the open person and play basketball.”
The Lakers connected on 13 of 29 three-point attempts, the third time this season they have shot above 40 percent from long range. “It feels good,” Reaves noted of the improved perimeter accuracy.
Reaves added that camaraderie with James and Doncic has made the season enjoyable. “We’ve got three guys that can make plays and are unselfish at the same time. If you’re in the right spot, everybody eats,” he said.
Head coach JJ Redick has publicly challenged Reaves to expand his leadership role even with James and Doncic on the roster, a task the third-year guard appears eager to embrace as Los Angeles continues its regular-season campaign.
