San Francisco, CA — Golden State center Al Horford will be out for a minimum of one week because of right sciatic nerve irritation, according to multiple reports on Monday.

NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Poole first reported the absence, and ESPN’s Anthony Slater confirmed the diagnosis. Slater added that head coach Steve Kerr expects the 38-year-old big man to miss at least three games.

Horford, who is coming off the bench for the Warriors this season, is posting career lows in minutes, points, rebounds, assists and three-point accuracy. The five-time All-Star has averaged reduced playing time while adjusting to a reserve role in his first season with Golden State.

Sciatica kept Lakers forward LeBron James out of the lineup for Los Angeles’ first 14 games, though the description of Horford’s condition suggests a less severe situation.

Golden State opened the year 4-1 but has fallen to 9-9 after three straight losses. Horford’s injury further strains the Warriors’ frontcourt depth; forward Jonathan Kuminga remains out with knee tendinitis, and Draymond Green is sidelined by a foot sprain.
