Kelly Oubre Jr. sidelined with left knee issue

Philadelphia 76ers forward Kelly Oubre Jr. underwent an MRI that revealed an LCL injury in his left knee, according to PHLY Sports. The 29-year-old will miss Monday’s matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers and will meet with specialists before the team releases a detailed timeline. Oubre, praised by head coach Nick Nurse for his defensive contributions, was hurt Friday in Detroit and did not return after halftime. He is in the final season of his contract, which carries an $8.4 million salary for 2024-25.

In related injury news, Clippers forward Paul George (recovering from knee surgery) and Sixers center Joel Embiid (right knee soreness) both practiced in full on Sunday, per PHLY Sports. George worked out in a blue jersey, indicating he took reps with the regular rotation, The Athletic reported.

Mitchell’s late surge secures 108-100 win over Grizzlies

Donovan Mitchell scored 14 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter Saturday as the Cleveland Cavaliers improved to 9-5. Cleveland, still without injured guard Darius Garland, outscored Memphis 30-16 in the final period to seal the victory.

“We’re going to go through ruts,” Mitchell told reporters, noting the club’s battle with “mental fatigue” before the late push. Evan Mobley added 22 points and 13 rebounds, Jarrett Allen had 16 points, and Sam Merrill chipped in 13. Head coach Kenny Atkinson credited the defense for holding Memphis to 16 fourth-quarter points, saying the team “was stuck in mud again for three quarters.”

Mashack promoted; Hall released amid backcourt injuries

The Memphis Grizzlies converted guard Jahmai Mashack to a two-way contract and waived second-year big man PJ Hall, the team announced. Mashack, the 59th pick in June’s draft, began the season with the G League’s Memphis Hustle after averaging 9.0 points, 4.4 assists and 4.0 rebounds in Summer League play. The 23-year-old said he has focused on creating “scoring gravity” while maintaining playmaking duties in the G League.

Mashack joins a depleted backcourt: Scotty Pippen Jr. (toe surgery) is out for multiple months, Ty Jerome (calf strain) has yet to debut, rookie Javon Small (turf toe) is sidelined at least three weeks, and Ja Morant exited Saturday’s game with a sore calf.

Hall appeared in seven games this season, averaging 1.9 points and 1.3 rebounds.
