PHILADELPHIA — Cade Cunningham poured in 24 of his 26 points after halftime, lifting the Detroit Pistons from a 13-point deficit to a 111-108 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday night.
The third-year guard ignited the turnaround with a second-half surge that included a dunk over former Piston Andre Drummond. Detroit, now 8-2, owns its best 10-game start since the 2005-06 club opened 9-1.
“We’re right where we’re supposed to be,” Cunningham said postgame.
Center Jalen Duren contributed 21 points and 16 rebounds, marking his sixth 20-point outing of the season. Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff praised the 20-year-old for his pick-and-roll presence and on-court communication, noting that Duren’s play has helped Detroit rank among the league’s top three defenses through 10 contests.
Warriors
Stephen Curry missed a third consecutive game because of illness in Golden State’s win over Indiana, but head coach Steve Kerr told reporters the two-time MVP is expected to return Tuesday against the Thunder in Oklahoma City. Prior to Sunday, the Warriors had dropped eight straight games without Curry dating back to last spring. Golden State began the season 4-1 but had lost four of its previous five entering the matchup with the Pacers.
Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers upgraded guard Austin Reaves (groin strain) to questionable for Monday’s game in Charlotte. Reaves was averaging 31.1 points and 9.3 assists before the injury. For the Hornets, guard LaMelo Ball remains out with an ankle impingement, while forward Miles Bridges is questionable due to back spasms.
