Brooklyn guard Cam Thomas will be out for several weeks after straining his left hamstring, the Nets said. The team will re-evaluate him in three to four weeks.

Nets

Thomas hurt the same hamstring during the first quarter of Wednesday’s game against Indiana. It is the fifth strain of that muscle in the past year; the 22-year-old appeared in only 25 games last season because of recurring problems.

Through seven games this season, Thomas was averaging 24.4 points. The former first-round pick accepted a $6 million qualifying offer over the summer and can become an unrestricted free agent in 2026, making continued availability critical to his future market value.

An optimistic four-week recovery would still cost him 14 games. With Thomas out, Terance Mann, Tyrese Martin, Drake Powell and Egor Demin are expected to see expanded roles.

Pacers

Indiana officially signed veteran guard Monte Morris and waived Mac McClung after three appearances. McClung, a three-time NBA dunk contest champion, averaged 6.3 points in 11 minutes per game. Because his deal was non-guaranteed, Indiana absorbs a cap hit of just $164,060.

The Pacers initially hoped to add Morris in training camp, but a calf injury delayed the move. Now entering his ninth NBA season, Morris owns a 4.9-to-1 career assist-to-turnover ratio and arrives with Indiana “17” in the standings and facing injuries to multiple guards.

Richie Adubato

Former NBA head coach and longtime assistant Richie Adubato has died at age 87, according to Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel. Adubato guided Detroit, New York, Dallas, Cleveland and Orlando during two decades on NBA benches, then spent time in the WNBA with the New York Liberty and Washington Mystics. He later served 15 seasons as a radio analyst for the Orlando Magic.

Condolences were extended to his family and friends.
