SACRAMENTO, Calif. — When the Golden State Warriors face the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night, both clubs will be without prominent starters. Warriors guard Stephen Curry has been ruled out because of a worsening cold and remained in San Francisco, while Kings center Domantas Sabonis (rib) and guard Zach LaVine (back) will also miss the game.

Golden State could be further short-handed. Forwards Draymond Green (right rib contusion) and Jimmy Butler III (lower back soreness) are listed as questionable. Butler left Tuesday’s win over the Phoenix Suns in the first half and has received round-the-clock treatment in an effort to be cleared, sources told ESPN.

Head coach Steve Kerr said his veteran group is “wiped out” after opening the season with three sets of back-to-backs. The Warriors’ schedule calls for eight of the next nine games on the road, and their first 15 contests will take place over 26 days in 10 different cities, Kerr noted.

The Warriors have already disclosed plans to manage minutes for their aging core. Curry is 37, Green and Butler are 35, and 39-year-old center Al Horford is sitting out one side of every back-to-back. Kerr said the team will continue to “spot rest” its older players and reiterated that a shorter season remains, in his view, the most effective answer to league-wide load-management concerns.
