The Chicago Bulls stormed back from 24 points down and slipped past the Philadelphia 76ers, 113-111, on Tuesday night at United Center after Nikola Vucevic buried a corner three with 3.2 seconds remaining.
The victory lifted Chicago to 6-1, matching the franchise’s best start since the 2021-22 campaign and marking the largest comeback win in the NBA this season.
Giddey posts second straight triple-double
Guard Josh Giddey finished with 29 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists, becoming the first Bull with back-to-back triple-doubles since Michael Jordan in 1989. “Tonight was one of the best wins I’ve ever been a part of,” Giddey said.
Vucevic added 19 points and 10 rebounds, Isaac Okoro provided 16 points and five assists, and six Chicago players scored in double figures.
Philadelphia starts fast, falters late
The 76ers controlled the first half, racing to a 45-27 lead after one quarter and stretching the margin to 22 in the second. Tyrese Maxey poured in 39 points, while Joel Embiid scored 20 in 25 minutes but shot 1-for-10 after halftime.
Chicago trimmed the gap to 95-84 entering the fourth quarter, then outscored Philadelphia 29-16 over the final 12 minutes. Giddey’s driving basket with 1:19 left cut the deficit to 111-110, and coach Billy Donovan used a timeout to diagram the decisive play. Giddey penetrated again and kicked to Vucevic in the right corner for the Bulls’ first—and only—lead of the night.
“Whenever you come back down 20-something and win the game, it’s big, especially against a team like Philly,” Vucevic said. “It shows the resilience we have.”
Chicago’s early-season résumé now includes wins over the Pistons, Magic, Hawks, Knicks and 76ers, all projected Eastern Conference playoff clubs, according to ESPN Stats & Information.
The Bulls travel to Milwaukee on Friday, while the 76ers continue their road swing in Detroit the same night.
