The Boston Celtics on Wednesday unveiled their 2025-26 City Edition uniforms, replacing the franchise’s signature green with a white-and-gold palette for the first time in team history.

White base, gold accents honor 18 championships

The new jersey features gold lettering and numerals outlined in black on a clean white background. According to the club, the gold highlights pay tribute to Boston’s NBA-record 18 titles, “representing success, achievement and triumph.”

Legendary coach Red Auerbach’s signature appears near the hem in the anthem placement slot. Auerbach guided the Celtics to nine championships, including eight in a row from 1959 through 1966, finishing his 16-year coaching career with a 938-win record.

First Celtics uniform without green trim

The club noted on X that the black outlines make the 2025-26 City Edition “our first uniform to not feature green.” While previous City looks in 2019-20, 2022-23 and 2023-24 incorporated gold accents, each of those designs still included elements of the team’s traditional color.

Debut date still to be announced

Boston has not yet released the game schedule for the uniform’s on-court debut. Last season’s City Edition, a black kit with neon-green graphics, was introduced in November. The Celtics open the 2025-26 regular season at home against the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 22.
