The Boston Celtics on Tuesday unveiled a new City Edition uniform that drops the franchise’s signature green in favor of a white-and-gold palette for the 2025-26 NBA season.
The jersey features gold lettering and numerals outlined in black, a design element the club says honors Boston’s league-leading 18 championships. According to a post on X, the team described the white base and metallic accents as symbols of “success, achievement and triumph.” It is the first Celtics uniform in which green is completely absent.
Near the waistline, the Celtics added the signature of Hall of Fame coach Red Auerbach, who guided the club from 1950 through 1966. Auerbach compiled 938 wins, captured nine titles—eight consecutively from 1959 to 1966—and finished with a 795-397 regular-season record and a 90-58 postseason mark.
While the color scheme is new, gold detailing is not unfamiliar to Boston. The franchise previously used gold trim on its 2019-20, 2022-23 and 2023-24 City Edition sets.
The team has not announced when the new look will first appear on court. Last season’s City Edition uniform was black with neon green highlights. The Celtics open the 2025-26 campaign at home against the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 22.
