Golden State Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. said the franchise intends to keep forward Draymond Green and center Kristaps Porzingis as it prepares for the 2024-25 season.
“We value them, we want them here, and we see them as a piece of the puzzle next season,” Dunleavy told reporters while discussing offseason priorities.
Contract situations
Green holds a $27.7 million player option for next season and has stated repeatedly that he prefers to stay with the Warriors. Porzingis will enter unrestricted free agency later this month. Dunleavy confirmed that team officials remain in contact with both players and their representatives.
Speculation persists that Green could decline his option and sign a new deal starting at a lower salary to give the team more financial flexibility, though no decision has been reached.
The Warriors are also awaiting choices from veterans Al Horford and DeAnthony Melton, who each have player options for the upcoming season.
Youth movement in the draft
Dunleavy indicated Golden State is leaning toward getting younger rather than adding another older veteran to a core built around Stephen Curry, Green and Jimmy Butler. That stance increases the likelihood the club will keep the No. 11 overall pick in the June draft rather than trade it.
Coaching staff updates
Head coach Steve Kerr is already set to return, but assistants Terry Stotts and Jerry Stackhouse have departed to pursue head-coaching opportunities. Dunleavy said the organization is evaluating candidates to fill those vacancies, with no immediate hires expected.
The Warriors continue to be linked to multiple offseason rumors, yet their current approach centers on retaining key contributors and building around an established foundation.
