Golden State Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy said the organization is working to keep both Draymond Green and Kristaps Porzingis on the roster for the 2026-27 season.
Green holds a $27,678,571 player option for next year, while Porzingis is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of June. “I think we’re in a good place with all of them,” Dunleavy told reporters, noting that discussions with each player’s representatives are ongoing. He called both veterans “a piece of the puzzle next season.”
Green has publicly expressed a desire to stay in the Bay Area. Declining his option and signing a longer deal at a lower annual salary could help the club avoid the luxury-tax threshold.
Other Contract Decisions Loom
Golden State is also waiting on player-option calls from Al Horford ($5,969,250) and De’Anthony Melton ($3,451,779), moves that will further shape the team’s payroll outlook.
Coaching Staff in Flux
Head coach Steve Kerr committed to returning shortly after the season, but assistants Terry Stotts and Jerry Stackhouse have departed to pursue head-coaching jobs. Dunleavy said the front office is reviewing options to fill those vacancies, with no hires imminent.
Draft Strategy
The Warriors hold the 11th overall pick and the 54th selection in this month’s draft. Dunleavy indicated the team is likely to keep No. 11 rather than package it in a trade. “We obviously would prefer to get younger,” he said, adding that the late second-round choice will go to the best player available, without regard to position or age.
Western Conference Outlook
Dunleavy said he will not tailor roster decisions around emerging threats such as Oklahoma City or San Antonio. “It’s as wide open as it’s ever been,” he noted, emphasizing an internal focus on improvement rather than targeting specific rivals.
The Warriors enter the offseason balancing potential roster turnover, coaching changes and two draft picks while attempting to stay competitive in a crowded Western Conference race.
