Golden State head coach Steve Kerr told The New Yorker he still relishes his job and is not inclined to leave Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and the rest of the roster. “I wake up excited to come to the gym and coach basketball,” he said in an extended interview published this week.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, speaking Tuesday on Yahoo Sports Daily, cautioned that Kerr’s desire is only one factor, noting the Warriors must also decide whether to retain their longtime coach beyond next season.

Green’s Post-Playing Path

In the same New Yorker conversation, Kerr questioned whether Green will pursue coaching once he retires. While praising the forward’s basketball intellect, Kerr said Green would need to “learn how to control some of that emotion” to succeed on the sideline.

Season Report Card

Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area graded the 2025/26 Warriors across multiple categories. Curry and Jimmy Butler received the club’s top mark, a B-plus, for maintaining high production whenever they were available.

Summer Cap Strategy

Yossi Gozlan of The Third Apron wrote that Golden State could prioritize preserving salary-cap flexibility for 2027 if a blockbuster trade does not emerge in the coming months.

Giannis Trade Scenario

Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus outlined a hypothetical package for Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo that would send four first-round picks, Butler and rookie guard Brandin Podziemski to the Bucks.
