The Golden State Warriors announced that guard De’Anthony Melton is approaching full clearance and could log his first minutes of the season on the club’s three-game swing through Philadelphia, Cleveland and Chicago next week.

The 27-year-old will remain out for the final two contests of the current homestand against the New Orleans Pelicans and Oklahoma City Thunder. According to the team, Melton has progressed to full-contact scrimmages with both the Warriors and their G League affiliate in Santa Cruz, a typical final step before game action.

Melton tore the ACL in his left knee after appearing in just six games last season, averaging 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 37 percent from beyond the arc. He underwent surgery on December 4 and missed the remainder of the campaign.

Originally signed to a one-year, $12.8 million contract in July 2024, the guard re-upped with Golden State in October on a $3 million deal that includes a player option for 2026-27. The Warriors believe his two-way play can bolster the rotation once he returns; Melton received Sixth Man of the Year votes with the Memphis Grizzlies two seasons ago.

Golden State opens the upcoming trip Monday in Philadelphia, followed by stops in Cleveland and Chicago.
