Ja Morant’s future in Memphis has become increasingly uncertain after an incident in late October led to a team-issued one-game suspension, ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel reports. Head coach Tuomas Iisalo questioned the guard’s leadership and effort following a loss to the Lakers, and Morant’s response—described as inappropriate—split the locker room. While the 26-year-old has not formally requested a trade, he has indicated he no longer sees a clear path with the Grizzlies, according to Siegel.

Siegel adds that the Heat have expressed interest in acquiring Morant. The Kings are also monitoring the situation but would only engage if the price falls significantly, as Sacramento is unwilling to part with meaningful draft assets.

Other Notes From Around the League

Lakers exploring pick flexibility: Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports said in a video on X that Los Angeles is considering moving its 2032 first-round pick for two or three lesser firsts. The club has also made Jarred Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent available while searching for a wing upgrade.

Pelicans eye Mathurin: League sources tell Siegel that New Orleans has interest in Pacers guard Bennedict Mathurin. Indiana has inquired about Pelicans center Yves Missi, raising the possibility of a deal built around the two recent lottery selections.

Kerr downplays Kuminga trade request: Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told reporters before Thursday’s matchup with the Knicks that Jonathan Kuminga’s trade demand will not distract the team. Kerr said he spoke with the forward earlier in the day and called the situation “difficult” but routine in the NBA.
