The Minnesota Timberwolves have inquired about Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey as they evaluate potential roster upgrades, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. The Phoenix Suns have also conducted background research on Giddey, though it is unclear whether Phoenix has formally asked about his availability.

At the same time, Minnesota is described as “very motivated” to keep free-agent guard Ayo Dosunmu. League executives polled by HoopsHype expect the 26-year-old to command $18–24 million annually on a new deal, and the Timberwolves are currently negotiating to retain him.

Front-office discussions have also included gauging the market for Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo and the No. 28 pick in this week’s draft, sources told Scotto. Those talks are part of a broader search for ways to bolster the roster ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Meanwhile, forward Jaden McDaniels remains off-limits unless a superstar is involved. Minnesota has rejected previous interest in McDaniels, turning away any proposals that did not feature top-tier names such as Giannis Antetokounmpo or Nikola Jokic. Early in the 2025-26 campaign—when the Los Angeles Clippers opened 6-21—the Clippers weighed the possibility of moving Kawhi Leonard and James Harden and checked on McDaniels’ status, only to be informed he was unavailable.

With the draft approaching and free agency on deck, Minnesota continues to explore multiple avenues to reshape its roster while holding firm on key assets.
