The Philadelphia 76ers hold the 22nd overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft but, before they make that selection, ownership hopes to settle on a new head of basketball operations.

Front-office timeline
Bob Myers, president of the Sixers’ ownership group, told the Philly Voice he would “like to” have an executive in place before draft night, though he will not rush the search. “If it hasn’t happened, that’s okay, too,” Myers said. “The goal would be to have someone that’s the right person for a long amount of time.”

Draft targets at No. 22
Public mock drafts link Philadelphia to several prospects who could contribute immediately—an important factor for a roster carrying three max contracts, two of which involve players with injury histories. Names most often connected to pick 22 include:

  • Allen Graves, a Santa Clara forward known for defensive playmaking
  • Dailyn Swain, a slashing wing from Texas
  • Luigi Suigo, a 7-foot-3 center from Italy with offensive upside

Jared McCain’s response to trade comments
Former Sixers guard Jared McCain, now with Oklahoma City, scored 24 points in the Thunder’s Game 3 win over San Antonio. Asked about ex-president Daryl Morey’s prior remark that Philadelphia “sold high” on him, McCain told HoopsHype: “It’s never to prove anybody wrong… Daryl’s still the guy that drafted me, so I’ll always have love for him for that.”

Andre Drummond’s uncertain future
Backup center Andre Drummond delivered strong stretches early and late this season but struggled in between, according to the Philly Voice. The 30-year-old showed a budding perimeter shot and remains a reliable rebounder, yet the club must decide whether an upgrade is possible within tight financial limits. If not, Drummond could return for a third straight year in Philadelphia.

Choice looms between Quentin Grimes and Kelly Oubre Jr.
Wing Quentin Grimes accepted his qualifying offer last summer after a protracted restricted-free-agency stalemate but failed to build on his late-2025 surge. The Sixers are expected to keep either Grimes or Kelly Oubre Jr., not both. Oubre was more established in 2025-26 and may sign for less, while Grimes is younger, a stronger shooter, and carries full Bird rights, giving Philadelphia greater cap flexibility. Whether Grimes wants to stay—after last summer’s negotiations and with limited room behind Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe—remains unresolved.

The Sixers’ decisions on the front office, the draft and multiple rotation spots will shape an offseason defined by limited cap space and championship expectations.
