Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun will be sidelined for approximately 10–14 days after suffering a lateral sprain of his right ankle, head coach Ime Udoka said Monday.

The injury occurred barely a minute into Saturday’s loss at Dallas, and the 23-year-old did not return. Team medical staff will reevaluate Sengun at the end of the week, Udoka added, according to sideline reporter Vanessa Richardson.

Sengun, the No. 16 pick in the 2021 draft, made his first All-Star appearance in 2024-25 and continues to produce at a high level this season. Over 27 games (35.6 minutes per game), he is averaging 22.6 points, 9.3 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 block while shooting 51.2 percent from the field, 31.7 percent from three and 73.4 percent at the foul line.

The Turkish big man leads Houston in rebounds and assists and ranks second in points, steals and blocks. The Rockets (21-11) hold the No. 5 spot in the Western Conference, just a half-game behind the third-place Los Angeles Lakers (22-11).

With Sengun unavailable, veteran centers Steven Adams and Clint Capela are expected to absorb additional minutes. Adams will return Monday night against the Phoenix Suns after missing the past two games with his own right ankle sprain.
