The Sacramento Kings expect center Domantas Sabonis to remain sidelined for about two more weeks as he rehabs a partially torn meniscus. While the 6-foot-11 All-Star is traveling with the club on its current three-game road trip — which ends next Tuesday in Indiana — he has not yet resumed practice, according to NBC Sacramento’s Sean Cunningham. Despite the team’s sluggish start and ensuing trade speculation, the Kings are maintaining a patient approach to Sabonis’ return.
Lakers
Rui Hachimura endured a rare off night on Monday, finishing without a point on 0-for-1 shooting and collecting just one rebound in 23 minutes of a loss. “I don’t remember when I had the ball this whole game,” the forward said via Lakers Nation. “Playing with these guys, I signed up for that. I understand it… Everyone knows that’s not how we’re gonna win. The games we’ve been winning, we’ve been passing to each other and trusting each other.” Hachimura called the outing “a tough one” but added that he has to move on quickly.
Suns
Dillon Brooks poured in 33 points as Phoenix routed the Lakers in Los Angeles, continuing his well-documented rivalry with LeBron James. “I love playing in this arena. They show me a lot of love in here, and I reciprocate it back,” Brooks told ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. The performance came while Devin Booker missed most of the game with a groin issue.
Guard Collin Gillespie added a career-high 28 points and noted Brooks’ emotional edge. “Sometimes I’m trying to tell him to chill out, but I think he just blacks out,” Gillespie said. “That’s Dillon Brooks. It fuels us. He’s the tone-setter.”
