TORONTO — Kawhi Leonard is on the verge of returning to the franchise he once led to a championship.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Clippers are finalizing a deal that will send the 35-year-old forward back to Canada. The reported agreement would move Leonard to Toronto while Los Angeles receives forward Brandon Ingram, rookie guard Gradey Dick, two future first-round picks, a first-round pick swap and two second-round selections.
Leonard guided the Raptors to their first NBA title in 2019 and departed weeks later to sign with the Clippers as a free agent. During seven seasons in Los Angeles, the two-time Finals MVP dealt with multiple injuries but remained one of the league’s elite two-way players when healthy.
If completed, the trade would close a significant chapter for the Clippers and give the Raptors the marquee talent they have sought since Leonard’s exit. No timetable for league approval or a physical has been announced.
