Toronto enters its first-round matchup with Cleveland counting on forward Scottie Barnes to anchor both ends of the floor after a standout 2025/26 campaign. The 24-year-old earned his second All-Star nod and is widely expected to land on an All-Defensive team.
Head coach Darko Rajaković said Barnes’ versatile game “is built for a playoff series,” adding that the former Rookie of the Year simply needs to “be himself” to make an impact.
Quickley’s status uncertain
Toronto may open Saturday’s Game 1 without starting point guard Immanuel Quickley, who is still dealing with hamstring and foot issues. The 26-year-old missed this week’s practices, leaving his availability in doubt and forcing Barnes to assume additional play-making duties.
Ingram’s durable debut season
Brandon Ingram completed his first season with the Raptors appearing in 77 games—his highest total since his rookie year nine seasons ago—and secured a second All-Star selection. The 28-year-old credited constant communication with the team’s medical staff for helping him manage minor ailments after several injury-plagued years.
Walter emerges after All-Star break
Second-year guard JaKobe Walter, 21, surged in the season’s second half to become a reliable 3-and-D option. Veteran Garrett Temple, Rajaković and Barnes all praised Walter’s competitiveness and shooting. “Each shot he takes, it feels like it’s going in,” Barnes said, noting Walter’s on-ball pressure and timely scoring.
Toronto faces Cleveland in Game 1 on Saturday with tipoff set for Scotiabank Arena.
