Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis says there is no sign teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo is preparing to leave the franchise, pushing back on ongoing speculation about the two-time NBA MVP’s future.

In an interview with ESPN Milwaukee, Portis said he speaks with Antetokounmpo “all the time” and that the superstar remains committed to the organization. “Giannis bleeds green. That’s all I can say,” Portis told the station.

Health, not roster issues, blamed for recent playoff exits

Rumors about Antetokounmpo’s long-term plans have swirled throughout the offseason, but Portis insisted the Bucks are still equipped to compete in the Eastern Conference. He pointed to injuries—rather than roster shortcomings—as the primary reason Milwaukee has not returned to the NBA Finals since winning the 2021 championship.

Portis recalled a series of setbacks: the team’s seven-game loss to the Boston Celtics in the 2022 playoffs, Antetokounmpo’s back injury against the Miami Heat in the first round of 2023, and a leg injury sustained against Boston during the 2024 regular season that kept the forward out for the remainder of that campaign. “We haven’t been really healthy,” Portis said. “I don’t make excuses, but that’s just what the tables was for us.”

Offseason moves

Milwaukee added center Myles Turner this offseason, clearing roster space by waiving injured guard Damian Lillard.

The Bucks open training camp next month, with Antetokounmpo still under contract and, according to Portis, firmly locked in on another title run.
