The New Orleans Pelicans have begun a sweeping reorganization of their basketball operations, coaching and medical departments, according to multiple sources cited by Shamit Dua of In The N.O. on social media.

Dua reports that several employees across the three units have been told they will not return next season. Many of those affected were on expiring contracts or held team options, giving the organization flexibility to move in a new direction as it restructures key departments.

Jake Fischer of The Stein Line corroborated the moves, noting that the franchise initiated the wide-ranging changes on Friday. With the overhaul under way, the Pelicans have launched a search for a new head coach, and additional vacancies on the staff are expected once that hire is completed.

Dua adds that Denver Nuggets assistant Jared Dudley is among the candidates expected to receive consideration for the top coaching job in New Orleans.

This marks the club’s second offseason under executive vice president of basketball operations Joe Dumars, who joined the organization in April 2025. League chatter suggests Dumars has taken a largely hands-off role in day-to-day decision-making, while senior vice president of basketball operations and general manager Troy Weaver is believed to have orchestrated last summer’s trades for Jordan Poole and Derik Queen.
