Los Angeles Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue will see a familiar postseason opponent when his club meets the Golden State Warriors in Wednesday’s 9-vs-10 play-in game. “I’m sick of it,” Lue joked about another matchup with Stephen Curry, noting the guard’s ability to “score 50 if you’re not careful.” Curry attempted nine threes and scored 24 points in the teams’ most recent meeting. The loser of Wednesday’s contest will be eliminated from the playoffs.
The Clippers may get frontcourt help for that game. Center Isaiah Jackson, sidelined since March 27 with an ankle sprain, went through 5-on-5 work Monday and practiced Tuesday, according to The Athletic. He is listed as questionable. Last month, Jackson averaged 8.1 points and 5.2 rebounds in 17.4 minutes per game.
Veteran guard Russell Westbrook said he would welcome a return to the Sacramento Kings next season. “If I’m welcomed back, then I’ll be back,” the 37-year-old told reporters. Westbrook played on a one-year veteran minimum deal, appearing in 64 games and averaging 15.2 points, 6.7 assists and 5.4 rebounds for his seventh NBA team.
In Phoenix, Suns swingman Grayson Allen missed Tuesday’s play-in matchup with Portland because of left hamstring soreness suffered Friday against the Lakers. Allen is averaging 16.5 points this season.
