The New York Knicks, Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers each faced key roster storylines over the weekend, ranging from late-game production issues to injury recoveries and developmental assignments.

Knicks: Bridges fades in fourth quarters

The Knicks continue to look for answers in closing moments, with forward Mikal Bridges posting just 3.5 points per fourth quarter on 42.4% shooting despite logging more minutes than any other Knick, according to the New York Post. His first-half field-goal percentage exceeds 55%.

Bondy’s report added that Bridges rarely reaches the foul line late; roughly 80 NBA players log fewer minutes yet draw more free throws. The deficiency is amplified when guard Jalen Brunson is unavailable. New York is 1-4 in five Brunson-less games this season, during which Bridges has averaged 17.8 points.

The organization believes Bridges can replicate the stronger late-game performances he delivered during last year’s postseason run.

Raptors: Barrett resumes on-court work

RJ Barrett has missed four consecutive games with an ankle injury, but Sportsnet’s Michael Grange reported that the swingman has returned to full-speed practice drills. Barrett showed no visible discomfort and is “trending” toward playing during Toronto’s current five-game road trip.

The Raptors, who are short on primary shot creators, would welcome Barrett’s scoring punch as soon as medical staff clears him.

76ers: McCain sent to Delaware for reset

The 76ers assigned second-year guard Jared McCain to their G League affiliate on Saturday. McCain is shooting 35.4% from the field and 32.3% from three this season after stronger rookie numbers, prompting head coach Nick Nurse to prioritize playing time and confidence building.

In his first appearance with the Delaware Blue Coats, McCain shot 5-for-18, committed six turnovers and did not record an assist, per the Philly Voice. Team officials view the stint as a developmental step rather than a disciplinary move.

The three Eastern Conference clubs will monitor their respective situations closely as they seek mid-season stability.
