Dallas — Asked what the Los Angeles Lakers should add around him this summer, Luka Doncic kept the answer short and specific: more outside shooting and a rim-running center.

During a recent appearance on the Spanish podcast Drafteados, the All-NBA guard said the ideal supporting cast would include “shooters and a big man who can run the pick-and-roll and jump so I can pass to him. If I have shooters, they won’t double me as much, and it helps me out.”

Doncic’s career has been built on drawing multiple defenders, finding open perimeter teammates and feeding athletic bigs near the basket, a formula that turned the 24-year-old into one of the league’s most prolific offensive players in Dallas.

Decisions Await Los Angeles

The Lakers enter the off-season with several key roster questions. Guard Austin Reaves is expected to test free agency, while LeBron James and forward Rui Hachimura are already on the open market. Center Deandre Ayton’s status is also unclear as the front office evaluates ways to improve a squad that won 53 games but was swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference semifinals.

Los Angeles played that series without Doncic, who missed the entire postseason after suffering a hamstring injury late in the regular schedule. He is currently focused on rehabilitation and preparation for next year.

For anyone wondering what type of reinforcements the four-time All-Star prefers, Doncic made it clear: surround him with shooters and a dynamic pick-and-roll partner, and the offense should open up.
