The Philadelphia 76ers are scheduled to meet this week with Cleveland Cavaliers general manager Mike Gansey, Phoenix Mercury GM Nick U’Ren and Minnesota Timberwolves GM Matt Lloyd as the club continues its search for a new head of basketball operations, according to The Stein Line.
The interviews will be conducted by Bob Myers, who is overseeing the process. Gansey and Lloyd, both considered rising executives, currently hold the No. 2 post in their respective organizations.
Lloyd’s résumé includes an initial stint with the Chicago Bulls in 1999 as a media coordinator, a move to the scouting department, and a promotion to senior manager of basketball operations. He became assistant GM of the Orlando Magic in 2012 and joined Minnesota in 2022 as senior vice president of basketball operations before being elevated to GM two years later. He was a finalist for Chicago’s lead basketball operations position that ultimately went to Bryson Graham.
Sources told The Stein Line that Sixers consultant Neil Olshey is not pursuing the vacancy, though he could remain with Philadelphia in an advisory role. Olshey, a former executive with the Clippers and Trail Blazers, was dismissed by Portland in 2021 following a workplace misconduct investigation.
The Atlanta Hawks have declined to let Philadelphia speak with GM Onsi Saleh, per the report. Inside the organization, assistant GM Jameer Nelson continues to receive strong support regardless of whether he is formally included in the search.
Rival teams have expressed interest in Sixers vice president of player personnel Prosper Karangwa after the dismissal of president of basketball operations Daryl Morey last week. Additional executives linked to Philadelphia’s search include Thunder staffer Vince Rozman, Wizards vice president of player personnel Travis Schlenk and Clippers GM Trent Redden.
