DENVER — Moments after the Denver Nuggets were ousted from the playoffs in a 110-98 Game 6 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, two-time MVP Nikola Jokic stated his intentions clearly: “I still want to be a Nugget forever.”
Jokic nearly recorded another triple-double, finishing with 28 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds, but his effort could not offset Minnesota’s dominance inside. The Timberwolves outscored Denver in the paint 64-40 and won the rebounding battle 50-33.
Forward Jaden McDaniels paced Minnesota with 32 points and 10 rebounds, while guard Terrence Shannon Jr. contributed 24 points in a surprise start for the short-handed Timberwolves.
Denver’s familiar problem resurfaced: limited support beyond its star center. Guard Jamal Murray was held to 12 points on 4-of-17 shooting as the Nuggets’ offense stalled. Denver had forced the series to a sixth game with a strong performance in Game 5 but could not replicate that success.
With the season over, attention turns to how the organization will build around Jokic, who reiterated his commitment to the franchise.
