Denver Nuggets president Josh Kroenke said this week that center Nikola Jokic is the franchise’s lone untouchable player as the organization weighs offseason moves.
Speaking during his end-of-season media availability, Kroenke stated that “everything is on the table” aside from Jokic, leaving the futures of key contributors such as Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon subject to evaluation.
Kroenke singled out Gordon while discussing the club’s priorities. “I love Aaron Gordon. I think the world of him, but there are some things we’re going to have to look at,” he said, noting that the team looks “a lot different when Aaron Gordon is healthy.”
The executive emphasized the importance of keeping Gordon on the floor. “We need a healthy Aaron Gordon,” Kroenke added. “We need to figure out how to make the most of him and get the most out of his body for the benefit of the team.”
Denver won 54 games this season and could opt to retain most of its roster, a path that would deepen the club’s luxury-tax commitment. Kroenke did not dismiss that possibility. “If we deem running it back the most competitive thing that we can do, that’s probably what we’re going to be doing,” he said.
For now, the message from the front office remains straightforward: Jokic stays, and every other option will be explored as the Nuggets chart their offseason course.
