Forward Keldon Johnson played a decisive role in the San Antonio Spurs’ Game 3 victory over the New York Knicks on Monday, limiting center Karl-Anthony Towns to 11 points after the Knicks star had scored 18 and 21 in the first two NBA Finals contests. Although six inches shorter and 28 pounds lighter, Johnson used his physicality to disrupt Towns’ rhythm and finished with a team-best plus-14 in 17 minutes.

“I just tried to make his catches tough and keep him uncomfortable,” Johnson said after the game. Center Luke Kornet praised the reigning Sixth Man of the Year, noting, “His versatility is important for us.”

Wembanyama clears his head in Gramercy Park

On the eve of Game 3, rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama spent Sunday afternoon sketching and watching a Shakespeare presentation in Manhattan’s private Gramercy Park. The 20-year-old told reporters the quiet outing helped him cope with the “whirlwind” of the postseason, adding that occasional breaks allow his “brain to cool down” before returning to film study.

LeBron on San Antonio: ‘You ain’t doing anything’

LeBron James suggested the Knicks’ two road wins to open the series might be linked to a lack of off-court distractions in San Antonio. “You ain’t doing s— in San Antonio. Nothing at all,” James said on his “Mind the Game” podcast.

Game 3 draws highest Finals rating since 1998

The NBA reported that Monday’s matchup averaged 23.8 million viewers on ABC and ESPN, peaking at 26.3 million at 11:15 p.m. ET—the largest NBA Finals audience in 28 years.
