The Philadelphia 76ers will have center Joel Embiid back in the lineup for Sunday’s Game 4 against the Boston Celtics, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The former MVP had missed multiple weeks after undergoing surgery for appendicitis.
Embiid was moved from “doubtful” to “questionable” earlier in the day, then passed pre-game warm-ups while wearing a thick wrap around his midsection, reporters on site noted. Despite not appearing fully recovered, he was officially inserted into the starting five. The team has not disclosed whether he will face a minutes restriction.
Forward Kelly Oubre Jr., listed as questionable with a sore oblique, was also cleared to play.
Philadelphia trails the best-of-seven series 2-1 after falling 108-100 in Game 3. A victory at Wells Fargo Center would level the matchup at 2-2 before the series returns to Boston for Game 5.
