The Utah Jazz have reached an agreement to bring back 28-year-old center Mo Bamba on a two-year deal, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

A source told Tony Jones of The Athletic that the first season is only partially guaranteed and the second year is a team option for 2027/28.

Bamba appeared with Utah late last season on a pair of 10-day contracts signed February 26 and March 8. The second deal was terminated after five days to clear a roster spot for Bez Mbeng. In two NBA games for the Jazz, Bamba contributed 10 points, 20 rebounds and two blocks across 38 minutes.

If he claims a regular-season roster spot, Bamba will join a revamped center rotation following Utah’s sign-and-trade of Walker Kessler to the Lakers. Other big men under contract include Jusuf Nurkić, expected to re-sign on a two-year agreement, and former Laker Jaxson Hayes, who accepted a two-year free-agent offer.

With Bamba’s return, the Jazz project to have 15 players on standard contracts once all transactions are finalized. All three two-way slots are already occupied.

Selected sixth overall by Orlando in the 2018 draft, Bamba began his career with promise but has moved frequently since a 2023 trade to the Lakers. Short stints with the 76ers, Clippers, Pelicans and Raptors followed. He also logged 10 games (five starts) last season for the Salt Lake City Stars, the Jazz’s G League affiliate, averaging 16.2 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 26.6 minutes.
