Boston Celtics All-Star guard Jaylen Brown publicly rejected speculation about discord between himself and the organization, stating during a recent Twitch stream that he hopes to remain with the team long term.
“I love Boston. And if it was up to me, I could play in Boston for the next 10 years,” Brown said, adding that his relationship with president of basketball operations Brad Stevens is “great.”
Brown’s comments followed outside chatter, including remarks by Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady, suggesting possible frustration inside the franchise. According to Sam Amick and Eric Nehm of The Athletic, team and league sources confirmed there are no internal issues between Brown and the Celtics.
The 27-year-old guard said the 2023-24 campaign—one in which Boston finished 56-26 despite extended stretches without forward Jayson Tatum—was his “favorite year,” highlighting the development of his teammates while overcoming adversity.
Brown recorded career highs of 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game this season while carrying a larger offensive load. He becomes eligible for a two-year contract extension this summer.
