Jaylen Brown Rejects Rumors of Discontent, Says He Wants a Decade More in Boston

Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown used a Twitch live stream on Wednesday to push back against recent speculation that he is unhappy with the franchise, saying he hopes to remain with the team “for the next 10 years.”

Brown’s comments came shortly after president of basketball operations Brad Stevens addressed the same topic during his end-of-season news conference, calling the reports unfounded. “I hate that our president of basketball operations even had to respond to this,” Brown said. “Me and Brad have a great relationship. I love Boston.”

The rumors began when Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady—a mentor to Brown—claimed on his podcast that the 29-year-old was frustrated with the organization. Brown dismissed that narrative, emphasizing his commitment to the Celtics.

Favorite season explained

Brown again labeled the 2025/26 campaign as his favorite season, a stance that had raised eyebrows because injured co-star Jayson Tatum missed most of that year. Brown averaged career highs of 28.7 points and 5.1 assists with a 36.2% usage rate while serving as Boston’s primary scorer.

During the stream, Brown clarified that the year stood out not for his individual role but for the team’s resilience. “You got to see all of my teammates grow,” he said. “To fight and maneuver through adversity and galvanize with a bunch of guys… this was my favorite year.” He added that winning the 2024 championship “is great,” but the underdog run made 2025/26 special.

Fine over officiating comments

Brown also shrugged off a $50,000 league fine issued after he criticized NBA officiating on an earlier stream. He argued that inconsistent calls between the regular season and playoffs are a widespread concern among players. “You can fine me, but I care about this,” Brown said. “I love the game of basketball.”

No timetable was given for any formal contract discussions, but Brown reiterated that, if it were solely his decision, his future would remain in Boston for at least another decade.
