The Oklahoma City Thunder will enter Saturday’s Game 7 of the Western Conference finals against the San Antonio Spurs minus two primary ball-handlers, as forward Jalen Williams and guard Ajay Mitchell have both been ruled out.
Williams remains sidelined for “left hamstring strain injury management.” The 25-year-old wing returned for Thursday’s Game 6 but was limited to one point, one assist and two turnovers in 10 minutes before head coach Mark Daigneault pulled him. Williams originally strained the hamstring in Game 2 of the first round against Phoenix, missed the entire second-round sweep of the Lakers, then re-aggravated the injury in Game 2 of the current series and sat out Games 3-5.
Mitchell, in his second NBA season, continues to recover from a right soleus (calf) strain suffered in Game 3. The 2024 second-round pick excelled versus Los Angeles in the conference semifinals after an inconsistent first round but had a slow start to the series with San Antonio before the injury.
Oklahoma City is 1-1 against the Spurs without both players, dropping Game 4 in San Antonio and winning Game 5 at home. Saturday’s winner-take-all contest will be played at Paycom Center.
