Cleveland guard Sam Merrill suffered a left hamstring strain after leaving Tuesday’s matchup with Detroit just seven minutes into the contest. An MRI confirmed the injury Wednesday, and the sharpshooter skipped practice later that day. Merrill is officially listed as questionable for Thursday’s Game 2, though head coach Kenny Atkinson said the Cavaliers will likely rely more on Max Strus, Jaylon Tyson and Keon Ellis if Merrill remains out.
Knicks Monitor Robinson
New York center Mitchell Robinson has been added to the Game 2 injury report with an illness and will be a game-time decision Wednesday, according to head coach Mike Brown. Robinson logged 12 minutes in Game 1, finishing with two points, four rebounds and four fouls.
Embiid Ruled Out, Still Considered Day-to-Day
Philadelphia officially ruled Joel Embiid out for Game 2 of the series against New York, but head coach Nick Nurse told reporters the MVP center remains “day-to-day” while managing ankle and hip issues.
Lakers Update Vanderbilt and Kennard
Jarred Vanderbilt dislocated his right pinky finger Tuesday in what appeared to be a severe injury. Head coach JJ Redick said the finger was “put back together,” has been splinted and the forward is day-to-day. Vanderbilt is doubtful for Thursday’s Game 2. Luke Kennard is also on Los Angeles’ injury report as questionable with neck soreness.
Pistons List Huerter as Doubtful
Detroit wing Kevin Huerter, sidelined since April 27 with a left adductor strain, is doubtful for Game 2 against Cleveland. He was initially questionable for Game 1 before being ruled out.
