The Indiana Pacers have waived center Micah Potter, according to Thursday’s NBA.com transaction log. The roster move creates the cap flexibility needed for the club to sign forward Larry Nance Jr. to a veteran minimum deal while remaining below the first-apron hard cap.
Potter’s dismissal was processed at 4:09 p.m. ET. If no team claims him off waivers, the 28-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent on Friday.
The 6’9” big man appeared in a career-best 47 games during the 2025-26 season, stepping into the rotation after injuries thinned Indiana’s frontcourt. He averaged 9.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 19.3 minutes, shooting 51.5% from the field, 42.3% from three-point range and 84.2% at the foul line.
Indiana had exercised a $2.8 million team option on Potter for 2026-27 last week, but the salary remained non-guaranteed. By waiving him now, the Pacers avoid any cap hit for the upcoming season.
Because Potter was on a minimum-salary contract, any team can claim him using the league’s minimum exception before the waiver period expires.
