Miami Heat
The Miami Heat remain interested in trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo, but team officials are preparing fallback options if the two-time MVP is unavailable, longtime South Florida reporter Ira Winderman said on 104.3 WQAM. Winderman indicated that Miami could refocus on Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard or Grizzlies guard Ja Morant should Antetokounmpo either remain with Milwaukee or choose another destination.
Miami’s reported proposal for Antetokounmpo features guard Tyler Herro, rookie center Kelel Ware and future draft picks. Whether the Bucks would engage on that framework is unknown.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Speculation continues that Oklahoma City is weighing a package of picks No. 12 and No. 17 to move into the top tier of the upcoming draft. Potential targets mentioned around the league include high-school standouts Cameron Boozer and Caleb Wilson. League executives, however, question whether teams holding premium positions would assist the defending champions in strengthening an already deep roster.
Detroit Pistons
Jalen Duren appeared headed for a maximum contract after earning All-NBA honors with Detroit, but a shaky postseason has clouded that outlook. One Eastern Conference executive told ESPN that the Pistons may encourage the restricted free-agent center to seek a max offer elsewhere before deciding whether to match. Detroit is still expected to retain Duren; the outstanding variable is whether his next agreement reaches the top salary tier or falls just below it.
