Trade discussions surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo have intensified over the past week, with the Milwaukee Bucks star determined to land with the Miami Heat, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported on the network’s “Get Up.”

Windhorst said negotiations have grown “hot” during the last seven to 10 days. Antetokounmpo, 31, holds leverage because his contract carries just one guaranteed season before a $62,786,682 player option for 2027/28.

“He has focused on wanting to be a member of the Miami Heat,” Windhorst noted. “Because he only has one year on his contract, he has some control over that.”

The Bucks and Heat have talked “for months,” but Milwaukee remains unsatisfied with Miami’s current offer, according to Windhorst. The Athletic previously reported that the Heat’s package is expected to feature Tyler Herro, Kelel Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., either Pelle Larsson or Kasparas Jakucionis, and draft compensation that could reach three first-round picks. Miami also owns the No. 13 pick in next week’s draft.

Boston has emerged as a serious bidder, Windhorst said, with Jaylen Brown “almost certainly” included in a potential Celtics proposal. Any Boston deal would force the club to break up the Jayson Tatum–Brown pairing and overhaul its style of play, Windhorst added.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, Orlando Magic and Portland Trail Blazers have also been linked to Antetokounmpo. Bucks co-owner Jimmy Haslam indicated last month that the franchise hopes to settle the two-time MVP’s future before the draft begins.
