Star guard Anthony Edwards has been upgraded to available for the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Game 1 matchup in Denver on Saturday, the team announced. The 24-year-old had been listed as questionable with a right knee injury that sidelined him for several late-season contests.
Edwards’ knee problem cost him a chance at postseason honors when his “extraordinary exceptions” appeal was denied. During the 2025-26 campaign, he posted career bests in two-point shooting (55.4 %), three-point accuracy (39.9 %) and scoring (28.8 points per game), earning second-team All-NBA for a second straight year.
Other key injury notes
Nuggets: Second-year forward Spencer Jones will be active against Minnesota after missing time since March 29 with a right hamstring strain. Fellow forward Peyton Watson remains out; he re-aggravated his own right hamstring strain on April 1 after previously sitting several weeks.
Rockets: Veteran star Kevin Durant is listed as questionable for Saturday’s opener versus the Lakers because of a right knee contusion suffered during practice this week. Team officials told ESPN they do not expect the bruise to jeopardize his availability for the first-round series.
Cavaliers: Center Jarrett Allen started Saturday’s game against Toronto but acknowledged his severe right knee tendinitis, first noted on March 3, will likely linger until the offseason. Allen said he continues to manage pain and inflammation with multiple treatments and medication.
The four teams open their respective playoff series this weekend with key contributors either returning, questionable or playing through pain as the postseason begins.
