Nets still shopping their remaining cap space. The Brooklyn Nets hold roughly $16 million in unused salary-cap room and remain open to absorbing contracts from clubs that need to shed money, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post. Brooklyn has already taken on the deals of Michael Porter Jr., Terance Mann and Haywood Highsmith while collecting three future selections: the No. 26 pick in the 2025 draft (used on Drake Powell), an unprotected 2032 first-rounder from Denver and Miami’s 2032 second-round choice. Team officials are actively searching for similar opportunities to add more draft capital.

Celtics ownership weighs arena alternatives. With new investors now in control of the Boston Celtics, questions about a potential change of venue have resurfaced. Shirley Leung of The Boston Globe reports the club’s ownership group is “keeping its options open” regarding a future home. The Celtics currently share TD Garden with the NHL’s Bruins and pay rent to arena owner Delaware North. A basketball-specific building surrounded by mixed-use development is among the possibilities being discussed, Leung notes.

Chicago columnist defends Bulls leadership—somewhat. Chicago Sun-Times writer Joe Cowley, a frequent critic of the Bulls, argues that the team’s front office is not the NBA’s most dysfunctional. In a recent column he placed the Pelicans, Knicks and Suns ahead of Chicago on that list, while still acknowledging public frustration with executive vice president Artūras Karnišovas and general manager Marc Eversley.

Minor hand issue for Jovic during EuroBasket. Miami Heat forward Nikola Jovic appeared to suffer a minor hand injury in Serbia’s 82-60 EuroBasket win over the Czech Republic, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported on X. Jovic finished with 10 points and six rebounds, and Serbia had already secured a berth in the round of 16.
